Your First Domain Search

This walkthrough takes about two minutes. You do not need an account.

Step 1: Type a name or an idea

Go to the home page and click the search box. You can type either:

  • A name you already have in mind, such as chillmail or chillmail.io
  • A short description of your project, such as a newsletter about budget travel in Japan

Press Enter.

Try it below with sample data (this demo does not make real lookups):

Step 2: Read the results

Each result card shows:

What you see What it means
The domain The full name, for example chillmail.dev
Available / Taken Whether you could register it right now
First-year price What the first year costs, in USD
Renewal price What each following year costs
Promo badge The first year is discounted; renewal is at the regular price

If you typed a single name, that exact name is checked on popular extensions and shown first. If you typed a description, you see AI-generated names that were checked and found available.

Prices may take a moment to appear: you might see grey placeholders while NameFlow fetches live prices.

Step 3: Compare before you decide

A few quick checks before you fall in love with a name:

  1. Look at the renewal price, not just the first-year price. A $2 domain that renews at $35 costs $72 over three years.
  2. Check the extension's rules. Some extensions require a local address or business registration. Open the extension's page in the TLD directory to see them.
  3. Say it out loud. If you have to spell it every time you say it, consider a simpler variation.

Step 4: Try variations

If your first choice is taken:

  • Try another extension (.dev, .app, .co)
  • Add a short word (getchillmail, chillmailhq)
  • Describe the project instead and let the AI suggest alternatives

What about buying?

Add the names you want to your cart, sign in, and check out by card. See Buying a Domain.

Common first-search questions

Why do I only see a few extensions? Single-name searches focus on popular extensions. To see every extension and its price, open the TLD directory.

Why did the search say I hit a limit? AI-powered searches are limited per IP address to keep the service fast and free. See Using AI Name Suggestions.

Is the price final? It is the live price at the time of your search. Generic extensions also carry a $0.20/year ICANN fee added at checkout. See Understanding Domain Pricing.
