A domain is registered for a fixed period. To keep it, it has to be renewed before it expires. Auto-renew does that for you.
Auto-renew is optional and off by default.
Turning auto-renew on or off
- At checkout: tick Renew automatically each year.
- Later: open My Domains, choose the domain, and turn auto-renew on or off.
Auto-renew needs a saved card. Add one in Account → Card for renewals.
How it works
- About 30 days before expiry you get a reminder email.
- About two weeks before expiry NameFlow charges your saved card and renews the domain. You are only charged if the renewal succeeded.
- If the card fails, NameFlow tries again 7, 3 and 1 days before expiry. Keep your card up to date in Account so the renewal goes through.
The renewal price is the extension's renewal price, which can differ from what you paid in the first year. See Understanding Domain Pricing.
If auto-renew is off
The domain expires on its expiry date unless it is renewed. To renew a domain manually, contact support.
What happens after a domain expires is explained in Domain Lifecycle and Renewals.
